Hi Geoffrey,

You are extrapolating that an image about white male privilege invalideas issues of suicide, when suicide is not mentioned anywhere. The article this is linked to is about Sexism on Wikipedia. I’ve written elsewhere on this blog about white male privilege – feel free to get educated on what this term means.

Comment on Stop Black Deaths in Custody by Dr Zuleyka Zevallos https://othersociologist.com/2021/04/11/stop-black-deaths-in-custody/#comment-72976 Sat, 24 Jul 2021 03:11:50 +0000 http://othersociologist.com/?p=26876#comment-72976 In reply to Millard J. Melnyk.

Hi Millard

Your response is ill-informed. First, this post is specifically about Black deaths in custody. Second, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children are removed from their families at nine times the rate of non-Indigenous children and placed into foster care with white people to deny them of their culture. First Nations children are incarcerated at a disproportionately high rate and at a younger age than non-Indigenous children. Generations of First Nations people have suffered long-standing sexual abuse at a higher rate due to the Stolen Generations. Race cannot be ignored from incarceration or other forms of abuse.

Your comment sounds like an “All Lives Matter” statement, which ignores the ongoing impact of history and racism on deaths in custody.

And every single child lives in custody, except for those who emancipated themselves and live on the street.

2,778 children being raped per second, every second, now. Every single second of every single day, all around the world, *especially* in “developed” countries.

[self promotion link removed]

And that’s just the 10 MILLION children trafficked and sold into sex slavery, getting raped *on average* 10 – 20 times each day. By people rich enough to afford it from people rich enough to kidnap them and “do business”.

It’s a rich man’s “business”.

And what about the thousands per second around the world getting raped in “family homes” over and over and over and… ??
